I introduced/tested some rhythmic and diverse choreography (quick changes) about 3 weeks ago, but when I saw they were having trouble I quickly changed to more simple choreography. One person out of 16 asked me to teach that routine again because she liked it. I was wearing a heart rate monitor. Again, the majority of people were having trouble with this choreography and my heart rate was around 150. After 10 minutes, I changed back to simple choreography (repeating the same move at least 4 times before moving on). They were able to follow very easily and my heart rate shot up to the mid-160s and stayed there for the rest of the class. People need to remember their goals. If they want to burn fat and increase cardiovascular fitness, then simple choreography at lower bpm is going to be more effective. It's still possible to keep the choreography interesting while not over-complicating it.
