Someone asked me to break down a hi lo aerobics "heel pop" in this hi lo aerobics choreography. Here it is.
step touch R&L (until you're ready to transition to next part)
(face left diagonal)
DOUBLE HEEL POP (4 counts total):
step R, heel tap L (2 counts)
step L, bend back knee & tap R toes (2 counts)
SINGLE HEEL POP - up-to-tempo (2 counts total):
step R, heel tap L (1 count)
step L, bend back knee & tap R toes (1 count)
From the heel pop, you can easily shift to facing front with feet about shoulder width apart. Shift weight from right to left foot up-to-tempo. Transition from singles to single-single-double (SSD).
When you're breaking down the choreography initially to teach it, use easy moves like "step touch" and shifting your weight side to side in singles as transitions. You don't have to count and it gives you time to explain the next move.
Thank you! This is very helpful. You've got a knack for describing movement.
